Kerri Dewe (Chair)

Kerri is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer who joined Tompkins Wake in 2020 as a partner. Kerri is a proactive and effective professional who is often commended by clients for her responsiveness and project contributions. Her skills have been recognised by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2020 as 'Next Generation Partner' and 'Recommended Lawyer' for 2021.

Kerri has a successful practice focused on transactional M&A matters and other corporate and commercial work, including negotiating significant commercial contracts, business structuring and advisory work, securities legislation and regulatory compliance matters.

Kerri works with clients across a range of industries, from start-ups to SMEs to leading corporates, private companies, listed companies, private equity funds, financial institutions and professional services firms. Her broad corporate and commercial experience, including valuable perspective she gained working within various commercial organisations as an in-house counsel, means she is an effective advisor to businesses.


Mike Marr - Group CEO

Over 25 years Mike has led ten successful start-up companies and completed 14 acquisitions.

TPT Group comprises companies in the electronic security, data communications, information technology, security monitoring, innovation and artificial intelligence, finance, and commercial property sectors.

​He started off his career as a young electrical apprentice and holds qualifications in electrical trade, electrotechnology, an Advanced Dip. Business, Dip. Management, Dip. Integrated Risk Management and a Dip. Project Management.

In 2020, Mike was acknowledged as a Blake Leader Awardee. This prestigious award recognises inspirational New Zealanders whose leadership style has delivered high-impact results and contributed to a more sustainable future for Aotearoa.

2017, he was one of two Global recipients of the Beta Gamma Sigma Medallion of Entrepreneurship (the first recipient to be awarded the Global honour outside of the USA). The Medallion for Entrepreneurship is awarded to noteworthy Global business people who combine innovative business achievement with service to humanity. In 2014, he was a finalist in the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for NZ.

Waruna is Investment Director at New Zealand Green Investment Finance (NZGIF). NZGIF’s purpose is to accelerate low emissions investment in Aotearoa New Zealand, with an investment approach, flexible mandate and long-term horizon that help it unlock and create investment opportunities, drive impact and provide access for others to climate-friendly investments.

Waruna has over 15 years’ experience in investment banking and infrastructure advisory, having previously held roles at Big Four accounting firms and boutique investment banks in New Zealand.

At NZGIF, Waruna has led the growth of NZGIF’s solar and distributed energy strategy and established NZGIF’s award winning $365 million Solar Finance programme, successfully securing private co-investment from Natixis Investment Managers, First Sentier Investors and Societe Generale.  


Andrew Beagley - Partner

BDO

Andrew has over 15 years’ experience advising private equity and corporate clients across a broad range of transactions and deal complexities. Andrew specialises in financial due diligence (buyside and sell side), valuation and corporate finance advisory, and has extensive international experience, having advised on a range of transactions in New Zealand, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and the United Kingdom. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (Accounting major) from Waikato University and is a member of CAANZ (Chartered Accountant Australia and New Zealand).


This Session will cover:

  • FOMO to SLO-MO – the drop in deal activity over the last 18 months, and market expectations moving forward

  • Identifying opportunities in a challenging market

  • The role of M&A in corporate strategy

  • M&A in the sustainability space

  • Strategies for successful exit (sell-side), or successful integration following acquisition (buy-side)
